Evers & Co. Real Estate Continues to Grow Market Share in Greater Washington, DC in 2011

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 21, 2012

Evers & Co. had a particularly strong year in 2011 in metropolitan Washington, D.C.?s neighborhoods within the Chevy Chase, Bethesda and Northwest Washington, D.C. zip codes of 20814, 20815, 20816, 20187, 20015 and 20016.

The year ended in Washington, D.C. with average home prices down 11.3 percent when compared to 2010, but better than November, which numbers came in 13.72 percent lower than the previous year, and October figures were down by 22.8 percent.* The average home sale price also fell into negative numbers this fall, but improved slightly with December?s average being only 4.3 percent lower, year over year.

?The New Year is ringing in optimism,? commented Donna Evers, Evers & Co. President and Broker. ?My firm?s agents are already seeing signs that the close-in neighborhoods of Washington, D.C. will remain strong with robust sales early on in 2012, and continue to build with activity as we get beyond the winter months.?

Evers also believes the housing market should continue to improve as more homes come back on the market. Inventory levels are low and very little new home construction has come on the market the last six years.

?Low interest rates and consumer confidence should build into the spring and create a very competitive marketplace for properties that are priced correctly and show well.?

Statistics are taken from the Metropolitan Regional Information System for three areas: Washington, D.C.; Montgomery County in Maryland; and Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church in Virginia.
